WASHINGTON — Construction of the District of Columbia’s new streetcar line is beginning in earnest.
WTOP-FM (http://tinyurl.com/kfvsquq) reports that starting this week, tracks are being built in front of the shuttered Spingarn High School in Northeast Washington. The tracks will serve a car barn where trolleys will be inspected, cleaned and repaired.
Construction of the car barn will follow this fall and is expected to be finished by next summer. The $13 million facility will act as a command center for the streetcars, which will serve the fast-growing H Street, Northeast, corridor.
