Emulate Hyderabad Metro Rail, Centre tells other metro rail firms

The Union ministry of urban development has congratulated the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited on being selected as the “Best Global Engineering Project of the Year 2013”.

HMRL has been selected from among the world’s top 100 infrastructure projects by Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum at its sixth annual conference held in New York recently.

Secretary in the ministry of urban development Sudhir Krishna wrote the letter of congratulations to NVS Reddy, managing director of HMRL.

“It is a recognition of the dedicated efforts shown by you and your team and I compliment you heartily for this recognition,” he said in his letter.

The ministry of urban development has circulated to all other metro rail projects in the country the unique features of the HMR project which won it the global award and advised them to emulate the best practices and innovative features of HMR.

The ministry of railways has also congratulated Reddy on the international recognition.

“It is a matter of great pride to all of us in the Indian Railway Accounts Service that your good work has brought laurels to the country,” PV Vaidialingam, advisor to the Railway Board said in his message to Reddy.

HMRL has been receiving requests from various ministries of the central government and state governments to give tips to their senior officers on building infrastructure projects in public-private partnership (PPP) mode and on the engineering and financial design innovation of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
